On May 21st, Jordan & Ang became Mr. & Mrs F.
They are some seriously gorgeous people, not to mention fun and relaxed.
As a graphic designer, Ang added many personal design touches to their wedding. I was drooling over so many of her choices. Her veil. Her earrings. Her flowers. Her stunning dress. Bridesmaid dresses. Colors. Turquoise. With splashes of lime green.
Ang got ready in her childhood bedroom. I love that.
See. Gorgeous, right? That dress fit her like it was made for her. Fitted and full at the same time. Layers and layers of sheer fabric add to the romance of the dress. And my favorite was the way the light touched that dress. Magic.
The hint of anticipation… okay, maybe more than a hint. More like a full blown excitement. Getting ready with the bride is so much fun. Seeing the transformation as all the preparations come together. And all I want to do is document those moments. Not interfere. Keep it natural and real.
Michelle did an AMAZING job on her hair. The makeup was perfect. The veil. Classic and elegant and a little nostalgic.
Some last minute primping with best buds and bridesmaids.
Bridesmaids and Bride.
Ang & Jordan decided to do a first look. How I love first looks! Especially the expression on the groom’s face… waiting for his soon-to-be-wife to descend the stairs.
Mom & Dad V. have a beautiful home filled with windows. The light in their home was PERfect for photos.
Off to the ceremony!
Trying a different type of processing for my B&Ws. It’s moody, photo journalistic and I love it.
There was an orchard across from the church. Happy dance! (Someone hire me to come back here please!)
I love this one so much.
And this one.
The handsome groom. Thrilled that he kept the mohawk, even if it’s subdued.
We headed out to Cultus Lake for some portraits and wedding party photos.
Arenda Dehaan, my second shooter, suggested this pose. LOVE it! About 20 minutes earlier it was POURING out.
That water had just about every shade of blue in it.
Arenda took this shot of me working. I’m still shocked that my back wasn’t sore after a full day of carrying that much equipment around my neck. I attribute this purely to the fitness classes I’ve been taking…
The jump shot. Funniest jumps ever. This wedding party made me laugh so hard.
It’s my feeling that this would be brilliant on a metallic print. It would just shimmer.
Every bride and groom should get a wee little nap in on their wedding day.
Details Details Details. Flower by one fabulous florist Jan Martens.
Ang designed her guest book with images from their engagement session from last fall. And designed the matching programs. Nicest programs I’ve ever seen!!! Beautiful thick card stock and professionally printed. I swiped one for my collection! Yes, I keep these things. If you’ve ever been asked to design a program, or plan a program, it is REALLY handy to have some samples. So I have a box full of wedding programs.
Ang & Jordan, it was so much fun to hang out with you and your family & friends on your wedding day. May God bless your journey in marriage and may you find your joy in Him.

This little guy was so so so sweet and content for our session.
He sure loves his momma!
Um. Angela… are you sure you had a baby 10 weeks ago? You look AMAZING!
Then we popped outside for some family photos.
Some proud pappa photos.
Some more with mom.
Awesome baby feet and toes.
Trayne with his train. Seemed appropriate.
Little Trayne had lots of expressions to share with us.
And wonderful baby smiles.
It was so nice to meet you!

This family touched my heart with their story of fight, faith and hope.
Little Grady was diagnosed with a heart condition at 20 weeks in utero. As a result, Shauna & James flew out to Edmonton – home of expert baby heart surgeons – for the birth of their son. As soon as Grady was born, he was rushed to the Children’s Hospital in Edmonton for open heart surgery. This little guy, 10 months old, has already had 2 open heart surgeries and just had his feeding tube removed a number of months ago.
What a journey for this family! It’s clear how much joy he brings them.
Shauna has her hands full with (almost) 4-year old twins as well! These two girls stole my heart. Bryn, so sweet and attentive and Maia, carefree and full of spunk.
I adore this photo of their family. I feel the moment. Look at the girls hugging their daddy. Daddy looking at Mommy. Mommy sharing a moment with baby. All connected.
Thank you for looking!

I felt so honoured to photograph this family. Don’t get me wrong, I feel honoured to photograph EVERY family, but this family is involved with something very special.
They are just completing their first 4-year term serving in Indonesia (Papua) for the Mission Aviation Fellowship. Currently they are on a 6 month furlough and in June they will begin a second 4-year term. Life in Papua must be so very different from here. You can read of their journey on their blog.
So, yes, I felt honoured to photograph them.
70mm 2.8 1/500 ISO 160
200mm f/2.8 1/400 ISO 160
They told me that this was super comfortable. Just laying in the grass, basking in the sun, hanging out and enjoying each other.
17mm f/4.0 1/640 ISO 320
24mm f/4.0 1/1000 ISO 320
Just a quick run down the hill. Who doesn’t love that?
110mm f/2.8 1/6400 ISO 640
I spy a little head poking out of the grass… haha!
70mm f/2.8 1/6400 ISO 640
It was a pleasure to do this session and to get to know your family a little. I think I could listen to your stories and experiences for hours.

-
Those are amazing pictures! Everyone looks great! I love the setting!
-
Great photos once again Karin. I have the same question as Kendra …. where’s the location? Or is that a secret? 🙂
-
Thanks everyone for the comments! The ‘secret’ location is at Aldergrove Lake Park. What a fabulous location for photos and a 5 minute drive away! If you’re familiar with Aldergrove Lake but don’t recognize this location, it’s because it is on the East entrance, called the Bowl, right next to the dog park.

Love the pics of laying in the grass!! Casual is so much more expressive than a formal shot.
-
Beautiful photos! Love the casualness and just watching them having fun and creating memories. Nicer than the stoic “sit still and don’t move” kind of pictures. 🙂
-
Gorgeous photos!!
-
The pictures are beautiful—just love the lighting on the family pix by the fence!
This sweet little girl could not be any more precious.
Capturing the details of her. That make her, her. Locks of thick dark hair, pretty pink skin, ears so perfectly kissable and tiny folds in the crook of her arm.
She is fearfully and wonderfully made.
Thanks for looking!
