Alaine is easily one of the most organized and easy going brides I’ve ever worked with. We arrived at her parent’s home in Surrey and the girls were waiting for me so that the fun could begin. There is something really calming about being able to take your time and savour the moments of your special day. I could tell that Alaine did really savour the moments of her day all day long. These two really enjoyed each other and after the ceremony was over, they couldn’t stop grinning and laughing and just being together. I loved watching that unfold.

So we officially had our first weekend of summer weather. And the timing could not be better because on Saturday and Sunday we celebrated Oma’s 88th birthday in the great outdoors. Mom and Dad treated us all to a tour of Harrison Lake. After some gorgeous sun and scenery and ‘gezelligheid’, we headed to nearby Green Point Beach for a barbecue. It had been 6 years since we had an official family photo taken. 6 years. The Louwerse clan has grown a lot in 6 years. Doubled actually. Mom really wanted an updated photo and with Oma here, there would not be a better time.
Family photos are stressful to plan. Extended family photos even more so. To all the families I photograph, I feel your pain. Finding the right combination of colors among such a large group is not easy. Thanks to everyone and their efforts to co-ordinate. Some spent a lot of time shopping as well… you look fabulous! I love the bright colors, the dark background, the smiles and the memories. A special thanks to Om Daaf for clicking the photos for us.

Alanna & Marek have been patiently waiting for their sneak preview of the engagement session. Thank you for waiting!!!
We met at Campbell Valley, one of my fave locations to take photos. Also a perfect location to bring their husky, Kayha, along for the fun.
I love this one. So sweet and happy.
And the one on the left. FAVE.
We waited patiently for another couple to leave so that we could capture photos under the tree.
Can’t wait for your wedding in September!

Herman and Cheryl. Cheryl and Herman. Even thinking about their wedding now, I get goosebumps. I am so happy for them.
Cheryl getting ready at her parents home in Surrey.
Those are real eyelashes. I can hardly believe it.
Her parents live on a beautiful property. Cheryl’s dad spent quite some time ensuring that their property was impeccable for this very occasion.
Oh Cheryl, you look amazing.
Herman and Cheryl opted to do a first look. Yes! I love a first look. Plus it’s Dutch tradition for the groom to pick up the bride from the parent’s home before heading to the ceremony or stadhuis.
And a couple moments of privacy.
Cheryl’s parents have a pony as well as some goats. Apparently the goats have been a key feature of all the Vandeburgt weddings. We thought we should document them.
Then we were off to the Stewart Farm House near Crescent Beach in Surrey. It started to rain while we were driving out there. I was a little concerned, but once again South Surrey does not disappoint. The sun even made an appearance.
The wedding party. I love the scale of the trees.
Beautiful flowers by Shelley Sikma.
Her laugh is so infectious. I love this photo.
I adore the photo on the left.
And the veil photo on the right has to be my favorite veil photo I’ve taken yet.
Junior bridesmaid and daughter of the groom. She is beautiful!
No shortage of locations at the Stewart Farm.
Off to the ceremony.
Walking out a family of 3.
Some details.
After family portraits we headed to the Wired Monk coffee shop. This coffee shop is located in a renovated heritage home and used to be the home of Cheryl’s family.
Thanks for looking!

Post #52 of personal project 52 weeks.
This marks the end of the 52 week project. Hooray (for finishing it)! Thanks to all the readers for reading, commenting and encouraging me along the way. I had weeks where I thought I wouldn’t finish this project. So thank you all for keeping me accountable and reading a little bit about our life.
The goals of this project were to create 52 photo pages for an album and to get a sense of our life for an entire year. Something with words. None of my albums have words. I didn’t know how it would turn out and I didn’t know what I would share. But I wanted to share the everyday: messy floors, snotty faces, dirty windows, the foods we ate, the clothes we wore, the places we visited, the activities we participated in and the joys and blessings of our relationships with each other and for God.
* The wagon. A $5 garage sale find is our constant companion wherever we go. At least Mattias thinks it should be. Increasingly possessive of this mode of transportation, he requests that it’s taken everywhere we go. Including church.
* This photo series is a typical after-dinner walk in the Louwerse household. We always take the wagon. And I’m fairly certain the entire neighbourhood is aware who this wagon belongs to. The plastic wheels are incredibly loud on the concrete and asphalt. If Art takes the boys on his own, I can hear them coming at the top of the street.
* They get into the soccer field and Noah wants to run. Mattias wants to throw sand.
* Noah is chasing his shadow.
* The slide at Betty Gilbert.
* Monkey bars.
* Then off to the current favorite location.
* The bike park. We could spend hours here. Up and down the boardwalks and paths. And the hills are a blast.
* Art loves to race the wagon over the bike bumps. Mattias loves it.

yay for finishing the project! Can’t wait to see the finished product 🙂 and I totally need to check out that bike park, Ethan would love it!

I really enjoyed these weekly updates, Karin- thanks for sharing these glimpses into your lives! We love going to that park, too. In fact, we were there last night, and Amy LOVES going up and down the bike hills in her stroller…the faster, the better! An adventure seeker already…taking after her Daddy and sisters 😉
