Meet Christiaan. Heβs just a little over 2 weeks old in the photos and he was all about staying awake and nursing during our session. π Sometimes that happens. But brand new babies always close their eyes at some point and drift off to sleep, even if itβs short-lived.
What a cutie this little guy is! His parents are clearly smitten with him. I sure was!
In just 3 weeks, these two lovebirds plan to be married! And I knew I needed to get them in front of my camera just one more time before the big day!
Engagement photos are so much fun. There is no stress. Just a relaxed setting and a great opportunity to chat about photos for the wedding. We headed out to my fave location at my fave time of day. Art took the kids along for a walk while I snapped. When the kids found us, Noah decided that he was going to be my assistant. He was a super star and I may even be able to develop a little helper out of him.
I love this series.
And when we can, I love to capture a silhouette shot! We raced to get it before the sun left us.
Thanks for looking!

π I like the first and third one a lot.. and the one where Brian’s “dragging” me along π
-
Beautiful photos Karin! I’m glad your back…i love looking at your pictures. Your so talented π

Karin, these are beautiful! What soft and lovely light. They both have beautiful eyes, so blue and so brown. π
Chirp. Chirp. Chirp. Thatβs right. For the last 3 months, there was nothing but the sound of crickets on this blog.
I took a bit of a break for Christmas and I expected January to be pretty low key as well. Then we found out that I was pregnant! For about 2 weeks I basked in the knowledge that there was this little being growing inside of me and then the morning all-day sickness hit me. About 6 weeks ago, I emerged from the nausea and have slowly regained my energy to take on all the things I used to do. It feels SO good to be back.
Back to Chris and Niki. They are expecting their first baby in April. A boy! We hung out on Saturday morning to capture the beauty of pregnancy. It was a very wet week and cold and Chris navigated us through the mud. This is their amazing property. Huge. Filled with little bridges, a creek, lots of ivy and generally a wonderful location to take photos.
Then we checked out the inside of the house for a bit.
We saved sitting in the wet ivy for last. π BRRR!
Canβt wait to hear the good news!

Hey Karin, glad to hear you’re feeling better – and I’m loving seeing more photos of your work. They sure do have a beautiful property for photos! My favourite is that first shot in the ivy – so stunning!

That pic with the reflection is amazing! π
It was a gorgeous November day. I was a little giddy that it was THIS gorgeous and happy to take advantage and take some photos for a really really great family with a really really great reason to celebrate.
Bill and Caroline celebrated their 30th anniversary this past summer and the kids bought them a photography session. π
One of their daughters Iβve had the pleasure of getting to know over the last number of years and they have a son who is Noahβs age. Josh and Noah are little buddies. We made Noah jokes the entire session to keep Josh entertained. My favorite: βNoah lives in a frying panβ and then hysterical giggles. The hilarious part was that I told Noah about it and he βgotβ it right away. Oh, the precious minds of 4-year-old children!
Some of my favorites from this session are the βinbetweenβ moments. Like all the photos with bubbles and the family just hanging out. It just happened while I was taking individual photos, I turned around and saw everyone playing and enjoying the moment.
Letβs just mention for a minute the wardrobe selection. It is perfect and photographs so well. Take note peeps! Plenty of color, texture, layers and pattern. Blown away. Well done, Dehaas family!
Last photo on this blog post is my fave for sure, but there were LOTS of good ones!

Karin, Love the fall colors and those pigtails are just too cute! thanks!
-
Karin, the pictures look fantastic. Although having a very photogenic and stylish family almost guarantees good pictures, you did a great job of capturing a variety of precious moments. LOVE them.
-
I LOVE how these photos turned out Karin. Nice job, yet again!!!
This family is so wonderful, what a great memory for them all to cherish!
p.s. NICE work on the colour coordinating Dehaas’!!!! I looks sharp!
Andrea and I are part of a photographer group of ladies that get together every month or two. How I treasure the photog get-togethers and I love (and I am slightly amused) that we talk photography about 10% of the time and the rest is life, family, faith and friendship.
So Andrea is this fabulous and talented photographer and no doubt about it, I was nervous to take their family photos. But with 3 active boys, nervous lasts about 5 seconds. π So we just hung out and played.
I love this family for bush whacking in the reeds and marshlands. Climbing fences. Running through crazy tall grass. I love exploring with kids and families.
Thanks for looking!

K, these are spectacular!! As your work always is, but these are just unreal. Love them!!! π My definite fave is the family one where they’re standing by the fence and framed by all the trees. Then I love all the ones coming after that one too, but they’re all great! Andrea will love these for sure!!
