I’m thrilled to have booked a couple of weddings for this upcoming summer. I’m looking to book a couple more, so please contact me if you’re looking for a wedding photographer!!!
I love how wonderful and wintry and beautifully sunny this session is especially in the midst of our rainy season.
We started at 10:30 am on January 1st. I was impressed with these two for being game!
The frost was still glistening on the trees and grass in some areas and of course, Justin and Jackie were cozy and sweet and super fun and easy to hang out with.
Looking forward to your wedding in May!
September. It brought a new phase to our lives: school for Noah. While he was not having anything to do with posing for the ‘first day of school’ photos, he was pretty excited to be in Kindergarten.
Typical Noah face with his lips overlapping.
In the classroom, in front of his locker. Of course, brother M needs to hop in the photo.
In his comfort zone. Playing with familiar faces. Playing with stuff he can build.
The walk to the first assembly with their class.
One week of school and we took off to Osoyoos for our annual September vacation. It worked out that Noah would only miss 1 day of school.
Pretty Osoyoos.
This year we spent a ton of time on the bikes with the kids.
4 cousins.
Mattias and Noah wanted to join the other Louwerse family!
I adore these next 2 photos. Thanks to my SIL for taking the photos. Me and my men!
And I love this one of Harold & Alicia and family. I quite like the desert landscape there.
Noah is always bouncing or running somewhere…
Mattias didn’t leave the hot tub. It was fine by us because for some reason the hot tub or Osoyoos or something-while-we-are-there clears up his eczema. I had been looking forward to his eczema clearing up since the spring.
Noah enjoyed swimming at the pool.
Evening bike rides that caused heart palpitations for us moms. These kids were fast and fearless. Especially near traffic. Or at least, that’s the way it seemed.
Matching run bikes!
We decided to replace our driveway with asphalt and make it larger.
View from inside.
View down the road.
3 hours later, they had finished paving.
James. 2 months old. On the awesome quilt that my MIL made for him. Thank you Pinterest for the inspiration. And thanks to my MIL for being up for making this and figuring out all the measurements. Apparently, not exactly a beginners quilt.
Days when Noah is at school are quiet and relaxing.
Don’t mind the embarrassing coffee table. It’s shabby and definitely NOT chic. I’m thinking of either painting it (brown – the same, turquoise or yellow) or attempting a potentially tragic Pinterest makeover. Really, I would like some input. Please.
Concentrating so hard on writing his name.
Noah is somewhere behind me or Art.
First time in the jolly jumper.
He’s so little yet. But he loved it.
Crazy beautiful location. Perfect location for family portraits in South Surrey area!!! (hint hint). We went for a walk with family there.
It was kind of perfect weather, so I was thrilled to take photos.
Everyone wants to hold James.
Except Mattias.
5 cousins.
Of course, I needed family photos of us. Really anyone I hang out with at some point is asked to take photos of us as family!
Haha! This is so typical! And look at that stinker’s face.
That was September 2012!

Beautiful! I get what you mean about the sun – just looking at your photos makes me feel happier! Haha! I LOVE the quilt you MIL made. I may have to copy that one:)

Great photos! September seems so long ago.. so summery and sunny. 🙂 And that park.. we go there all the time – we love it!
Happy New Year everyone!!! I always love the beginning of the year. Christmas decorations are put away which instantly feels like I’ve completed a major decluttering project. New year resolutions are made (although not by me but I love to hear them from others). Commitments of the fitness and diet variety are renewed. My favorite part is the wondering what the year has in store for us. Noah will complete his first year of school. Mattias is growing into his own person and I look forward to getting him involved in activities. And James. Well, the first year is jam packed full of milestones. Solid foods, crawling and walking just to name a few. Art and I are content. It is a wonderful place to be. We look forward to our basement becoming habitable again in February, a business trip in March, a hand surgery in March and camping / vacationing in August. In the midst of our plans we surrender ourselves to God’s plan.
In November, I announced an engagement session give-a-way. 14 couples entered. And Josh & Tanya were randomly selected as the winners. I will definitely do another give-a-way for the next wedding season! It was fun and I love hearing the ideas and plans that couples have for their big day.
Tanya mentioned that their ideal session was in nature with paths, hills, trees and fences. I have to say, this location along the fort-to-fort trail is awesome and then we just hung out in the middle of the road for a bit and then stopped at one of the mansions in the area to capture some shots with Christmas lights. Anyone else want to do a session here? I only wish it were a little closer to home. Anyway! Here are the photos. Enjoy!

love these! …and what a great location!!
Happy New Year. 🙂 -
These are super adorable, karin! I’ve never heard of the fort to fort trail so may have to check it out someday! Looking forward to seeing and hearing what the New Year brings for you and your family ♥

Beautiful! Amazing photos, and a great location! Love the Christmas tree ones too. 🙂
After completing the 52 week Personal Project in 2011, people immediately asked if I would do another personal project. Say what? I barely finished this last project. The idea was daunting and I definitely needed a break.
The timing for a break worked well because shortly after I had the book printed, I was pregnant. When I’m pregnant, I’m pretty useless. I could barely get behind the computer to finish up client work, never-mind a personal project. I don’t think I picked up the camera much either.
We love our book. The project is a perfect way to document our life. But it was a lot of work. And I tend to enjoy mixing things up.
So the goal is to create something similar but less work. Or maybe just less frequent. I want the images to be real and authentic. Snapshots of our life. What we do together. How we live. They aren’t supposed to be perfect. Certainly not perfectly posed in a perfectly organized house.
So be prepared to see our messy floors, dirty windows, untidy kitchen, mismatched clothing, dirty faces, hair in need of a cut because that’s what our life is like.
This new personal project is inspired from a blog circle I follow. Basically these photographers are showing photos of their lives from month to month.
I’ve decided to go back in time. To August. Our littlest was only 2 weeks old at the beginning of August.
Baby and ipad.
This monkey is so alert at 3 weeks!
The hot days of August. Just looking at the photos again reminds me how warm it was.
Such a strong little guy.
First family of 5 portrait.
Airshow at Opa & Oma L’s with the L family.
I’m frequently requested to take photos of Lego bases that Noah creates. He has an amazing imagination.
Art took the older 2 boys camping at Brae Island in Fort Langley in August. The week they went camping were the hottest days in August. James and I came to visit every day and left at around 10 in the evening to sleep in our comfortable beds
Mattias thought it was the coolest thing ever. Camping. The great outdoors with his daddy.
Oma came for dinner one night.
Mattias was enthralled with the tent, the sleeping bags, the mattress, choosing to spend his time zipping and unzipping and setting up his bed for the night.
Apparently, it’s not necessary to roast the marshmallows to eat them.
Noah is all about the s’mores.
We added a window to the dining room in August. So happy with this decision. More beautiful natural light into our house!
Mattias is playing church on the stairs. My wallet. Check. Book of Praise. Check. Reading upside down. Check.
Mattias had fallen asleep early one evening. Perfect opportunity to get a co-operative photo with all 3 boys.
Second family self portrait of the month. Can’t really see Noah. or Mattias.
I painted the interior of the french door this turquoise color.
Summer evenings are spent going for bike rides up to the Athletic park near our home. It was August when Noah finally got the hang of riding his bike. Still with training wheels.
Mattias is a pro on the run bike.
We have an awesome blackberry picking spot in Aldergrove.
It requires a little bush whacking to get in and out of blackberry picking.
My giggle monster. He is so ticklish.
Thanks for looking!

Wow – GREAT photos. I think you picked up the camera a lot that month! I LOVE the photo of Noah (?) and James ….where James looks like he’s …well ….scared? (just before the first pic of Art and the boys by the tree). LOVE!
-
KARIN!! These are amazing. I kept scrolling though thinking “Oh that one is my favourite….oh wait…no this one” The ones in the tall grass are magical.
-
As always, amazing…I’m completely jealous that you can take such fabulous pictures and with a new born too!
-
You are one blessed mama Karin – wonderful family photos! I miss our coffee dates at Starbucks very much. Have a wonderful Christmas with Art and the boys.
-
Ah summer!!! beautiful pics. 🙂

Splendid photography and a gorgeous e-album.
He’s the most recent addition to the clan. Mr. Hudson Isaac Louwerse. What a sweetie. While Hudson is quite the chunky monkey (read: 10 lbs 9 oz), he is still oh-so little.
I had fun taking photos in their new space. Joni did a great job decorating. I love that photo wall gallery behind them in the first photo! Also had fun playing with the Christmas tree backdrop!
Big sister, Jaimee, still holding the title for the only girl in the Louwerse family for 2 generations.
I may or may not have shown her this window hide out… and we may or may not have been practicing bum drops on her bed.
Thanks for looking!
On a side note. I’ve been thinking of starting up a personal project again. Just working out the details. One a week. One a month. But there will be something! Soon.

I love the feel of these photos, they are beautiful! I especially like the one of Ed & Joni & Hudson at the very end. And the one of Hudson in the box! So cute!
Wenda - Beautiful light. Love these photos!
