It is an idyllic location. There are pools of water, moss growing on sides of cliffs and at the top of trees. Ferns and foliage everywhere. A raging river and lots of river rock.
It was a fun place to explore with a really special family.
Lorraine was the one who coached me on how to be a Louwerse wife. Because there are genetic predispositions one needs to be aware of. Such as? Well, I can only speak for myself and my experiences but let’s just say that the commonality among the clan is that there is a particular way to do things. A level of tidiness and neatness that must be maintained. There is a way to load the dishwasher, a way to mow the lawn, a way to organize the tool shed, a way to load the car. Those Louwerse’s are organization kings. And well, Lorraine warned me about what I was getting myself into.
But to be perfectly honest. I love these characteristics. They make me smile. They keep my life organized. And I have no doubt that at some point they will drive me nuts.
I love the scale of the tree and the roots next to the family.
We finally found our reflective surface!
I love this one.
The water was very cold. I think it was worth it!
The kids all got to pose in their own style and location. Colter spotted some huge boulders with green moss on them. Raina picked water. Kierra laid down like this on the rocks. Lincoln was sitting like this patiently waiting for his turn. He spent some time rock collecting. I think this would make a cool photo grouping on a wall.
Amazing hair! She is sure beautiful!
For sure one of my favorites! Casual and relaxed.
Post #19 of Personal Project 52 weeks.
* Our new church. I had the pleasure of photographing it. I plan to post more photos after the open house on Saturday.
* It was 15 degrees out. Lightly drizzling. Around 10 am. Somehow we ended up outside. And Noah wanted to play with the water. Surprisingly, it lasted half an hour.
* Afterward we baked.
* Before we went inside to bake, Mattias wiped out. Flat on his back. He hates being on his back on a regular day. But to wipe out and land on his back. Near hysteria.
* Noah likes to organize and line up anything. My moo cards (pst I love these things… the minis. so cute and not bad for quality). Lined up and organized in groups of photos. He is only 3 1/2. I worry what this will look like when he’s 5. Or 10. Or married.
* Abbotsford had an open house at all their fire stations. Noah was in awe of the firetrucks. The ladders. The hoses. Kinda makes sense why he was playing with water and hoses the next day outside for half an hour.
* Mattias has recently discovered books.
* He can stand and watch the Kitchen Aid for at least 2 minutes.

Beautiful picture of the church! Love it! Amazing how when your Mattias wipes out you’ve got the lens ready! 😉 too funny! Keep doing this … like you said, you will be so very glad you did!
-
Love them…I know I say it all the time, but such talent! And wow on the baking picture…incredible depth of field…very cool! Keep it up, Karin….you’ve almost inspired me to take on a project like that, and that says a lot because I don’t do those kinds of things 😉
PS. You’re an amazing mom…playing in the water in October and then letting them help you bake afterwards, very cool and fun – my hat goes off to you 🙂 -
I could comment on all these pictures; Love the picture of the Noah playing in the water outside (you def are a cool mom for letting him do that)! Glad Noah enjoyed the fire hall! The church is gorgeous! Hope to see your moo cards in person(how can you not love them…even the name is cool!)

Missing your personal blog posts Karin 🙂
Hope to see one soon.
Post #18 of Personal Project 52 weeks.
* Celebrated a joint birthday party in style. With a pony. Noah didn’t dare go on. Mattias loved it. Pretty typical. We all had a blast at the party and were WIPED when we got home. They crashed. Likely due to the copious amounts of sugar that were readily available to them. Just like a birthday party should be.
* It’s getting cooler out. Mattias begs to go “owside” early every morning. Most days, he succeeds. Even in the pouring rain he is happy to be outside. Unlike Noah and I.
* Apple Caramel Pecan Cheesecake. Yeah. Suffice it to say: it is not kind to your behind. Or in my case, my stomach. It took me forever to make because I kept on running out of ingredients. Maybe because I miscalculated 8 tbsp of butter to be 1 cup. 8 tbsp = 1/2 cup. So then I doubled the crust to compensate for the disgusting amount of butter. And I doubled the sugar in the caramel sauce because it also contained far too much butter. I now have a pot of caramel sitting in my fridge. Caramel lattes. Caramel sundaes. I’ll make anything with my new ingredient. I hate waste. Wanna come over and have some caramel?
* The tricycle that still has not been ridden.
* Any snack or meal ends up all over his face. And his jeans. And his shirt. And the floor. This too shall pass.
* Still picking strawberries. They make up for the tomato disaster. The tomatoes were all inflicted with blight. It is a really sad thing to watch hundreds and hundreds of tomatoes rotting. Now I know why ‘hothouse’ is so popular. Art has a cool idea to convert our garden into a green house. That way we can start earlier and harvest earlier and hopefully avoid the rainy spell that caused so many to lose their crops.
* Partners in crime having some fun. I love these kids!
* I am thankful when I’m dragged outside early in the morning because I get to see the beauty of the simple things. Like the glistening of the blades of grass in the dew. And the sounds of the morning like chirping birds. It’s so peaceful and fresh. There is a darker side: the alarming number of spider webs every morning everywhere in our backyard! You really do need to watch where you walk.
* Self-portrait before a photo session. I gotta do a series of these self-portraits.
Thanks for looking!

* Re-branding!!! I have started with my re-branding process and marketing materials are slowly being changed. I’m excited!
* Rogebrood. (or pumpernickle). Noah thinks it’s a treat. And why not? He doesn’t know it’s healthy and that it keeps him regular. Not that he needs to be even more regular…
* Noah can really fall asleep anywhere these days. But please don’t wake the sleeping bear.
* Let’s see. Art is in timeout here. The house rule is “no throwing”. Art was annoyed. Typically when Art is annoyed nothing happens. Well, he gets a little grumpy, I give him some food, he eats and everyone is happy. Truly, on weekends this happen 3x per day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love predictable. But this time, Noah’s ball cap was flung from the dining room across the living room over the railing and half way down the stairs. Noah was temporarily shocked. Daddy threw? “Dad, no throwing” he announced with authority, “timeout in your room”. Art happily obliged.
* Was in Chilliwack this week, scoping out locations for a photo session.
* Birth announcements. I love these press printed beauties that came in.
* Probably my biggest pet peeve is crumbs. Anywhere. On the table. On the counter. On the floor. Sometimes I feel OCD with the amount of wiping I do.
