Post #32 of Personal Project 52 weeks.
* He’s pretty adventurous. One day M discovered that he could lift himself and swing.
* The neighbour’s have bird feeders. I love to watch the birds.
* Oma came over for a visit. He still calls both Oma’s “Opa”. He is 18 months and starting to say sentences. Almost everything he says starts with “I want…” But he also frequently asks “Is Daddy home?” and “Is Opa home?”.
* We had snow early in the week.
* Which quickly turned into slush.
* And then it started pouring.
* When it finally stopped raining, Noah put on his boots and went outside. And dug around the mud in the backyard.
* I was delighted that my sage plant seems to have survived the winter. I love that!
Post #31 of Personal Project 52 weeks.
* The boys cuddle up together to watch a little TV just before bed. Usually, Noah sits down and Mattias will bring the blankets, the sippy cups, the stuffies and get comfortable next to Noah. Then M tries really hard to watch TV for a couple of minutes, but just can’t last any longer.
* My curtains. Just from Ikea. I had my eye out for one of those double rods, so that I could do something soft and breezy and see-thru and something heavier and drapery-like over top. They are always a mess because of the kids: not quite open, not quite shut. But I love them. They are comfortable.
* At the mirror after a bath.
* Wandering around aimlessly with a sippy cup.
* Peek. BOO! Still a favorite game.
* For my birthday, a dear friend ordered me a custom bag. I could choose any fabric I wanted. I adore yellow but can not wear the color due to my complexion. It really doesn’t do anything for me. If you can’t wear it, then get a bag! The designer, Renee Zietsma (huntingdonhome (at) gmail.com), knew exactly what my style was based on some really vague and seemingly opposing ideas. And I believe that this bag is actually intended to be reversible as well (all the seams are hidden) with a super cute black and white scroll print inside. This bag is now a permanent fixture on my side. It’s perfect as a diaper bag (for kids my ages… probably not ideal for an infant-you might want more pockets, but I think she does a style like this too), library bag (you wouldn’t believe how many books you can stuff in there), shopping bag (for groceries), couponing bag (to hold my massive coupon book and flyers and wallet), casual purse (I take my coupon book wherever I go so this works really well for me), Bible study bag (yes, I feel that this is in a separate category of bags! My study Bible is enormous, plus all the other stuff you need to cart along, it all fits). If this sounds like your life… order one!!!
* Self portrait of us. This is what we look like every morning after our shower/bath. Glamorous? No. But it’s real and that’s what this project is about.

that bag is super cute!

love the mirror photo! and yes, that bag is super cute! may just need to order one for myself!
This little guy and his siblings and his momma came over for a coffee visit. I couldn’t resist whipping out the camera, even though it was easily the darkest day of the week and month (or at least it felt like it, there have been many days this month that are dark and dreary).
Lindsay and I love to talk shop: she has a passion for photography as well. Although, no website or work that I can link to… maybe soon?
We can talk and talk and talk. Our paths have crossed many times through the years: my husband knowing Chris and Lindsay from his time living in Winnipeg, having mutual friends, I even recall having coffee with Lindsay while we watched hockey games at Center Ice but ultimately it’s a mutual interest in photography that keeps us in touch and connected.
Everything shot with the 50mm 1.4 lens at 1.4, ISO ranging between 250 and 640.
Lindsay, as always it’s a pleasure to hang out with you! And so lovely to meet your new little addition.

Karin!! I’m grinning from ear to ear! I know I’m being biased, but these are beautiful shots. Thank you, thank you so much! You never cease to amaze me!
-

-
Karin, these are so beautiful.
-
a family I know! Beautiful photos and so nice to see Lindsay and Chris’ kids!
-
Gorgeous pics Karin! And Jacob is positively scrumptious. I can’t get over how much Lucas looks like his dad in that pic…totally reminds me of Chris as a little boy!
-
beautiful pics Karin… what a sweet baby boy! Jacob looks just like his big brother 🙂 Love the shots of baby and mama… Lindsay looks great!

He is a beautiful baby! Great pictures
This sweet little peanut was born on January 1st. What a way to ring in the New Year!
For sure, one of my favorite images.
It was the first time she wore little pants.
Myla already has a playmate. He watches her every move.
We took off her little hat to reveal beautiful dark hair.
I have known Kathy for around 5 years now. We met through a ride-share program when both of us were commuting to Vancouver for work and have kept in touch ever since. Kathy is a fitness studio owner, pilates instructor, personal trainer and a super savvy business woman. We spent many car rides plotting and scheming business ideas. Kathy, you have accomplished a lot in 5 years! Juan is also a personal trainer focusing on sports conditioning and athletics. Together, they make a great team.
I was pumped to be able to use my newly revamped chalk board sign. I keep on looking for new things to cover with chalk board paint. Really quite fun. That and spray paint which is so much easier than using a paint brush.
Daddy doting over his little girl.
Most of the session was shot with the 50mm at 1.4. I usually avoid shooting wide open like that. However, I always love the results. This lens is like butter at 1.4.
Thanks Kathie & Juan for everything! Enjoy this time of new parenthood!

these are absolutely beautiful, karin! 🙂
-
very nice! why would you avoid shooting open? I adore it!
-
so so beautiful.

What a gorgeous session Karin…you got such a great mix of lifestyle and portraits. Love them!

beautiful pictures again karin! I love the pic of the close up of the baby 🙂
Post #30 of Personal Project 52 weeks.
* Sleeping. It’s rare to be able to photograph him sleeping. This was a daytime nap that lasted 3 hours. An exceptionally long nap for him.
* Trying to keep up to his brother.
* He is unexpectedly careful with Noah’s builds. Making slight modifications here and there but ensuring that the Lego creations remain recognizable. Thereby keeping the peace.
* He is an early riser. It’s hard to get him to stay in bed past 6 am. Often he is up at 5:30. We have tried many tactics to get him to sleep later but I think he’s just wired to be an early riser. Like his dad and completely unlike me.
* New Years Day was a sunny, cold, crisp day. It’s our tradition to spend Christmas with the L family and New Years Day with the V family. It is the only day of the year that my father declares a holiday for himself. We went for a walk at the New Westminster Quay.
* We toured one of the steamboats.
* One of my blog followers noted some time ago that Art hardly appears in any of these weekly posts. So I’m making a bigger effort to photograph him. He’s not terribly keen to be photographed. I don’t know why. Mr. GQ.
* Captain Noah.
* Opa & Oma V and the kids. This is the best photo despite a lot of bribery. My kids know all my tricks and are completely unfazed by me acting like a crazy person. And my parents appear confused. Or amused. Either way, I still don’t have a proper photo of my kids and my parents.
-
Nice! We went to the Quay a lot as kids. Good idea with the drawers in the Ikea unit. Do they sell those there too?
-
LOVE the variety of shots here. Great pictures! I hope that one day (soon) Noah will learn to enjoy sleep a touch more 😉
-
WOW! i’m so impressed, 2 posts in less then 24 hours!
I love the shots of Captain Noah on the boat. -
Awww – love these pics! I like how you capture moments that are often over looked by us moms….you are an inspiration! The picture of Noah in his pj’s looks like he’s just waiting for the rest of the world to wake up! 🙂 And I love the pic of Mattias sleeping – how cute is he!
carolyn - Love your raised garden, I’m so hoping for one this year…:) my sage plant has lived so far too, yours is looking a little better though.
lib - Amazingly our sage plant survived last winter in southren ontario as well!! We’ll see about this one as it’s not over yet. Hope you’re doing well! 🙂
